England coach Sven Goran Erikkson will make four changes to the starting eleven in the final World Cup qualifier against Poland. Erikkson will introduce Shaun Wright-Phillips, Ledley King, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand instead of injured Steven Gerrard, Sol Campbell , suspended David Beckham and dropped Peter Crouch. Michael Owen is set to take captain's armband instead of Beckham. FA has asked Real Madrid to allow Beckham to stay with the squad for Wendsday match against Poland. Real have not responded yet, although they have already recalled Michel Salgado and Thomas Gravesen who are suspended for their countries international matches.
England have already qualified for the 2006 World Cup but the match against Poland will decided who finishes top in the group. The top place is likely to affect the seeding for the World Cup draw.
