European national teams are battling final rounds for the 12 places in the World Cup that will take place in June 2006 in Germany. Only two teams qualifyed by now, Germany as a host and Ukraine - Group Two winners.
Three teams are contenders for the second qualifying place in Group Two - Denmark, Greece and Turkey. Turkey is at the moment ahead with one match left to play, while both Denmark and Greece have two matches left. England must win their two remaining qualifiers to secure a place in the World Cup. a win against Austria on Saturday will be sufficient if Holland beats Czech Republic. Italy, Holland and Portugal are leaders of their respective groups and each national team only need a draw on Saturday in order to qualify.
In Group Seven Serbia-Montenegro are two points ahead of Spain, and they are set to qualify if Spain and Bosnia-Herzegovina - the other two contenders fail to win their games.
