Michael Owen scored twice in Newcastle's 3-0 away win against West Bromwich Albion. It was United's fourth victory in the last six Premiership games.
Both teams failed to score in the first half of the match, while it took only seconds into the second half for Michel Owen to score his first goal. Emre's cross into the area was received by Owen who placed the ball past Kuszczak into the net. Owen converted Kieron Dyer's low cross in the 78th minute and substitute Alan Shearer scored the third for United two minutes later. Magpies boss Graeme Souness decided to rest Shearer due to an hernia injury, but the lack of scoring opportunities in the first-half prompted him to introduce Shearer in the 66th minute.
West Bromwich Albion created a few chances, however Magpies goalkeeper Given made a couple of fine saves. Newcastle United are now 10th on the Premiership table with 15 points from 11 games.
