Carling Cup:Chelsea out on penalties

The Carling Cup holders Chelsea are eliminated from the competition after loosing on penalties to Charlton.The match finished in 1-1 draw after regular time and Addicks caused a major upset when Bryan Hughes scored the winning spot-kick to damp Chelsea out of the Cup.

Chelsea went ahead in the 41st minute when John Terry headed home from Arjen Robben's corner.Charlton leveled before half-time through Darren Bent after Huth's defensive error.

Chelsea dominated the match and wasted numerous opportunities although Charlton had the periods of good play and in turn created several chances. Terry's goal did not come as a surprise while the equaliser shocked the home side.Huth's header back to Carlo Cudicini fell well short of target and Bent was swift to punish Chelsea's defence.

Huth also failed to score from the spot during penalty shoot-out while everyone else scored thus handing the match to Charlton.
