Bolton qualified for the group stages of the Uefa Cup after tonight's win in Plovdiv against Bulgarian side Lokomotiva. Bolton were on the brink of elimination from this season Uefa Cup up to very late in the game. Lokomotiva took the lead five minutes into the second half, after Georgi Iliev scored from 25 yards. The Bulgarians were well on the way to the next round twelve minutes before time due to goal away rule.
Aleksandar Tunchev own goal in the 78th minute reversed Lokomotiva's advantage, while Kevin Nolan's goal three minutes from time seal Bolton's victory. The match was played at the Naftex Stadium in Bourgas, a port city on the Black Sea because the stadium in Plovdiv did not meet the criteria set by Uefa for European competitions.
