Newcastle United will introduce Michael Owen as the latest addition to their team on Wednesday noon BST. The England and Real Madrid striker agreed the contract terms on Tuesday after passing a medical. The four year deal that Owen sight will cost Newcastle United around £17 million. It is around £2 million more than what Magpies paid for Alan Shearer in 1996. Alan Shearer played a significant part in persuading Owen to move to St James' Park.
Owen was left out of Real Madrid's team for the first game of their season after falling behind Ronaldo, Raul, Julio Baptista and Robinho. His main ambition is to play regular league football in the season preceding next year's World Cup.
