Denmark outplayed England in their friendly match played on Wednesday in Copenhagen. England conceded 4 goals in the second half, three of them within only eight minutes, while Wayne Rooney scored the only goal for England. This was England's worst defeat since May 1980 when they lost 4-1 to Wales in Wrexham. England was defending poorly, with the blame shared between defenders Rio Ferdinand and Glen Johnson alongside goalkeeper David James. England's midfield staffed with the star players David Beckham, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard was also outplayed by the Denmark's team.
Wayne Rooney's performance was only good new for England's boss Sven Goran Erikkson. England faces a World Cup qualifier on Saturday 03 September 2005.
