Newcastle are eliminated from the European competitions after they lost their Uefa Cup semi-final to a Spanish team Deportivo la Coruna 1-2 (2-4 on aggregate).
The Magpies took the lead after 39 minutes of play in the first half. James Milner scored after Amdy Faye's cross was deflected by Lee Bowyer.
Jorge Andrade equalised in the last minute of the first half after a sloppy defending by Robbie Elliott and Newcastle's goalkeeper Shay Given. Deportivo took the lead three minutes into the second half of the match. Pedro Munitis won the ball from Elliott, exchanged the passes with Tristan and sent the ball past Given.
