Newcastle United narrowly lost the first leg of their Uefa Cup semi-finals to a Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna. The Magpies are now hoping to overcome Deportivo in the second leg on their way to Uefa Cup title.
Deportivo scored early in the match to take a lead against Newcastle's injury-ridden side. Newcastle were deprived of Scott Parker, Kieron Dyer, Shola Ameobi,Titus Bramble, Emre and Jermaine Jenas.
Pedro Munitis pass in the box was well received by the young striker Castro, who placed the ball behind the Newcastle's goalkeeper Shay Given in the 11th minute. Newcastle equalised three minutes into second half with Lee Bowyer's stunning left foot volley.
Deportivo's Portuguese center-back Andrade put the home side up after the good solo play and unstoppable curl low into the corner of the net.
The winner of the match will face the winner of the semi-final between Lazio and Olympique Marseille.
