Alan Shearer scored twice in the second half to seal the Newcastle's win over Slovenian side ZTS Dubnica (Newcastle wins 5-1 on aggregate).
The home side dominated throughout the match. Newcastle had a few chances in the first half, with the best attempt made by Jermain Jenas in 26th minute. Unfortunately the ball hit the underside of the bar.
Lee Bowyer and Jermain Jenas both appeared for Newcastle. although their future at ST James's Park is uncertain.
Slovenian goalkeeper Dusan Pernis made several good saves. ZTS Dubnica had a two periods of god play at the end of first half and the beginning of the second half. Newcastle captain Alan Shearer's two headers in the last 20 minutes of the match ended all hopes of the Slovenian side.
The first goal came after the James Milner's corner, and the second after Stephen Carr's cross.
