Benfica's striker Azar Karadas signed a one year contract with Portsmouth. The one year loan contract contain the clause that could enable Kardas to move permanently to Portsmouth.
The Portuguese club decided to buy him after he scored against them in the Champions League match while playing for Norwegian side Rosenborg.
He moved to Portugal in a deal worth £ 1,5 million. In the last season Kardas played only 10 matches for Benfica and scored 4 goals.
Kardas is expected to replace Nigerian striker Yakubu, whom Portsmouth sold to Middlesbrough for £7.5 million.
