Liverpool has started the Champions League season with the 3-0 win over Welsh side TNS. Steven Gerard scored a hat trick.
TNS manager Ken McKenna strategy was based on a strong defence with one striker in front.
However it was not sufficient to stop Liverpool captain who put on a briliant performance.
The opening goal came after only eight minutes. Steven Gerard promptly slotted the ball home after Morientes put the ball at his feet.
Liverpool captain scored again in 29th minute, finally sealling the game with his third goal in 89th minute.
The second leg match is due next week in Wrexham.
