Chelsea will start their defence of the Premiership title at Wigan in the opening game on 13 August. Newly promoted Wigan are facing the Premiership Champions in their opening match and runners-up Arsenal in their closing match of the season. In other first round fixtures Arsenal is hosting Newcastle, while Manchester United will face Everton at Goodison Park.
Chelsea and Arsenal with meet at Stamford Bridge in the second round on 20 August. The season will finish a week earlier than usual due to World Cup finals in Germany.
