Liverpool will be seeded in the first qualifying round of the Champions League, UEFA has announced.
Liverpool finished fifth in the last Premiership season, but were given entry to this year Champions League after UEFA changed its rules. However, they will have to enter the competition in the first round of the qualifying stages.
The Champions League commitments forced Liverpool to cancel a lucrative tour to Japan.
The draw for the first qualifying round will take place on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland.
Liverpool could still play Welsh and Northern Ireland clubs in the qualifying stages.
