Manchester City was founded in 1880 under the name of West Gorton Saint Marks. In 1887 they changed the name to Ardwick F.C, finally becoming Manchester City in 1894.
They finished top of the First Division in 1937, and repeated the success in 1968 under the manager Joe Mercer.
On the European stage, they won the Cup Winners' Cup in 1970.
